Brother of deceased Hiroshima girl views President Obama’s origami cranes

JMH160620 sasakiSunday’s Asahi and Nikkei reported that Masahiro Sasaki, the brother of Sadako Sasaki, visited the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum on June 18 and viewed the four origami cranes folded by President Obama that he brought when he visited the museum on May 27. Sadako, who died of leukemia ten years after the atomic bombing of Hiroshima at the age of 12, folded origami cranes in the hope that it would help her recover from the disease. Sasaki told reporters that he strongly sensed the President’s hope for peace by viewing the origami cranes.
