GOJ mulls holding Japan-Russia summit in Yamaguchi

Russian State Duma Speaker Sergey Naryshkin, a close confidant of President Vladimir Putin, revealed at a meeting in Tokyo on June 17 that Putin is expected to visit Japan late this year. The Japanese government is considering holding the Japan-Russia summit in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s home constituency. It is hoped that holding dialogue between the two leaders will lead to progress in negotiations on the Northern Territories.
