Asahi, Mainichi, and Nikkei wrote that Chief Cabinet Secretary Suga said at a news conference on June 28 that the GOJ plans to hold in July a meeting of the working-group with the Okinawa Prefectural Government that was established based on the settlement recommendations for Futenma relocation. Suga said that the GOJ plans to explain its position on the matter and hopes to learn about Okinawa’s position during the meeting. Yomiuri wrote the GOJ is mulling the idea of filing a lawsuit against the Okinawa Prefectural Government to seek a court judgment on the legality of Governor Onaga’s refusal to honor Land Minister Ishii’s instructions to rectify his cancellation of the landfill permit for FRF construction at Henoko.
