The government and ruling parties decided to convene the autumn extraordinary Diet session on September 26. Bills related to the second extension of the consumption tax hike, the second supplementary budget bill, including economic measures, a bill on the ratification of the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement, which will be carried over to the extra session, will be major topics of discussion. The government and ruling coalition plan to spend up to about 75 days until early December.
Ahead of the extra session in the fall, another extra session will be held for four days in early August after the House of Councillors election. In this Diet session, the new president of the House of Councillors and others will be decided.
