Yomiuri wrote on Tuesday that visiting MOFA Foreign Policy Bureau Director General Ishikane discussed security issues with his Russian counterpart in Moscow on Monday, noting that this was the first time in two years for the two governments to resume the security consultations that were disrupted following Moscow’s annexation of Crimea in the spring of 2014. The Japanese official apparently sought an explanation from Russia on its arms buildup in the Far East.
