Taiwan postpones maritime cooperation dialogue with Japan

Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on July 26 that it will postpone meeting with Japan for the inaugural dialogue on maritime cooperation, which was slated to take place later this month. It remains unknown when the talk will resume. The International Court of Arbitration has recently ruled that Itu Aba in the Spratly Islands, which Taiwan currently seizes the control of, is a “rock.” This is rekindling a debate among the Taiwanese press that Okintorishima Island in Tokyo is “not an island.”
