Japan alarmed by yen’s appreciation

Several Sunday papers wrote that the GOJ is concerned about the Japanese currency’s rapid appreciation against the dollar during Friday’s trading on account of market players’ deep disappointment with the latest monetary policy easing announced on Friday by the Bank of Japan. Finance Minister Aso hinted at Tokyo’s readiness to intervene in the foreign exchange market to devaluate the yen by telling the press on Friday in Paris that Japan will pay close attention to the foreign exchange market and move resolutely if necessary.
