NTV and all other networks reported at noon that Regional Revitalization Minister Ishiba held a press conference this morning and expressed his intention to leave the Abe Cabinet. Noting that PM Abe was able to maintain his grip on power by keeping lawmakers who are seeking to succeed him in his cabinet, NTV said Ishiba’s departure could become a new source of political turmoil. The network said the premier is hoping to retain key cabinet members in order to stabilize his administration.
