At a press conference on Aug. 2, Democratic Party Secretary-General Yukio Edano again stated his intention to request a summons be issued to former Minister in Charge of Economic Revitalization Akira Amari, who resigned from the cabinet amid money-for-favors allegations. Amari, who has been absent from the Diet due to a sleep disorder, attended the plenary session of the House of Representatives on Aug. 1. Seeing this, Edano said, “(Discussion of) his political responsibilities will now finally start.”
