The Ministry of Defense announced on Tuesday that an engineering unit of the Ground Self-Defense Force (GSDF) has resumed activities outside its facility in South Sudan. The unit, which is taking part in United Nation’s Peacekeeping Operations (PKO), began road maintenance work at the UN base 6.5 km away from the SDF facility in Juba.
After July 7, the unit halted its activities in areas outside the facility due to the deteriorating security environment.
A senior official at the ministry said, “The area has become relatively calm again. We will continue to pay close attention to the local situation and ensure the unit’s safety.”
