Nikkei ran an interview with METI Minister Seko, in which he explained the Abe administration’s strong commitment to obtaining parliamentary endorsement of the TPP legislation in a Diet session to be convened in the autumn. He said: “The leaders of the TPP members all agreed to take steps toward ratification. It is important for Japan to execute this faithfully.” As for rising concerns about a possible delay in obtaining congressional approval for the regional free trade accord, Seko said: “It is only natural for the current U.S. administration to obtain ratification.”
