All papers wrote that MOFA Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau Director General Kanasugi twice lodged a protest with a senior official of the Chinese Embassy in Tokyo on Aug. 8 because 15 Chinese government vessels entered Japan’s territorial waters and contiguous zone near the Senkaku Islands on the same day. This was the largest Chinese fleet to ever enter the area. Tokyo has lodged protests with Beijing over similar incidents for four consecutive days.
