Today’s Okinawa Times took up a GOJ position paper explaining that the GOJ has not published since 2014 the number of U.S. military community members in Japan, including dependents and civilian workers, because relevant data has not been submitted by the USG. The USG has reportedly insisted on the necessity for greater caution when providing data in view of the threats posed to the U.S. military in the international community.
