Okinawa Times and Ryukyu Shimpo on Aug. 14 front-paged reports on a ceremony held at Okinawa International University on Aug. 13 marking the 12th anniversary of the crash of a Futenma-based CH-53 helicopter on the university campus next to the air base. University President Maetsu called on the U.S. and Japanese governments to immediately close and remove the Futenma base.
