Sankei reported online on Sunday that Naomi Koshi, the mayor of Otsu in Shiga Prefecture, will be featured in the U.S. Embassy video project “A Broader View” designed to encourage Japanese youths to study in the United States. The Harvard graduate was reportedly asked by Ambassador Kennedy in January this year to appear in the video and speak about her experiences in America, along with other opinion leaders, including Rakuten CEO Hiroshi Mikitani and Nobel laureate Satoshi Omura. The politician expressed hope that children in her town will watch the footage, which will be available online beginning in September, and become interested in global affairs.
