MOFA lodges another protest against Chinese government ships’ sailing in waters near Senkakus

Nikkei reported that according to the Japan Coast Guard, four Chinese government ships entered Japan’s territorial waters near the Senkaku Islands around 10:20 a.m. today. This is the first time since Aug. 9 for Chinese government ships to sail in Japanese waters. MOFA Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau Director General Kanasugi lodged a protest with Minister Guo at the Chinese Embassy in Tokyo over the phone. The Coast Guard confirmed five Chinese government ships sailing in the contiguous zone in the area on Aug. 16, and four of them entered Japan’s territorial waters today.
