Efforts to help people die peacefully

160826 closeup gendaiNHK’s “Close-up Gendai Plus” reported on new efforts to have religious leaders such as monks and priests stay with dying patients at hospitals to ease their fear of death. The program said while there are currently about 200 certified clinical chaplains in about 40 prefectures in Japan, many more are needed to listen to the concerns of the dying and help them die peacefully.
