Hua Chunying, spokesperson of the Chinese foreign ministry, stated at a news conference on Aug. 29 that she “had no knowledge of any plans to hold commemorative events” to mark the anniversary of victory in the war of resistance against Japan on Sept. 3 “similar to those held last year (which marked the 70th anniversary).”

She also mentioned the G20 Summit to be held in Hangzhou on Sept. 4-5, remarking that “China is making every effort for the success of the G20 Summit.”
