Hiroshima gives flowery expression of thanks to President Obama

About 150,000 salvia laid in a design depicting U.S. President Barack Obama, the A-bomb Dome, and an origami crane are now in full bloom at Sera Yurien, a tourist farm in Sera Town, Hiroshima Prefecture.

The flowerbed measuring about 100 meters by 50 meters features red, blue, and white salvia. Visitors can enjoy a bird’s-eye view of the garden from a hill in the garden. The flowers will be in bloom until the end of October.

Garden Manager Ueda (28) shares: “As residents of Hiroshima, we made the garden with the desire to spread the message of peace after President Obama’s visit to our prefecture.” The garden is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Direct inquiries to Sera Yurien at 0847-27-1555.
