The ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) decided on Nov. 16 to send Kazunori Tanaka, director general of its International Bureau, to the U.S. on Dec. 5. With an eye on the inauguration of the administration of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump next January, the LDP aims to promote its effort to create personal channels with people involved in the U.S. Congress and think tanks. LDP sources have disclosed.
In order to promote exchanges between Japanese and U.S. parliamentarians, the LDP International Bureau will shortly set up a project team (PT). Daishiro Yamagiwa, deputy director general of the International Bureau, is expected to head the PT.
