Tokyo, Nov. 25 (Jiji Press)–Japan’s three megabank groups resumed making donations to the ruling Liberal Democratic Party in 2015, a government report showed Friday.

The three are Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp. and Mizuho Financial Group Inc. <8411>. They donated 20 million yen each to the LDP through the party’s fund management body, according to the political funds report by the home affairs ministry.

Mizuho resumed its donation to the LDP to help the ruling party carry out growth policy measures, a company official said.

In 2015, companies and organizations gave a total of 2,294.92 million yen to the LDP, about 3.7 pct higher than in the previous year, the report showed.

Many firms have been increasing their contributions to the LDP back to levels seen before it was ousted from power by the Democratic Party of Japan in 2009, a ministry official pointed out.
