The total number of joint exercises conducted by the Self-Defense Forces and the U.S. military (including multilateral exercises they both participated in) during fiscal 2015 was 61, adding up to a total of 1,319 days. This marks a record high for the fourth consecutive year since fiscal 2012 when the second Abe administration was inaugurated. The number shows that the military integration of the SDF and the U.S. military has advanced rapidly ahead of the entry into force of the security legislation, or war legislation, in March.
