Policy Research Council Chairman Toshimitsu Motegi of the Liberal Democratic Party held talks with Michael Green in Washington on the afternoon of Jan. 17. Green served as director for Asian Affairs of the National Security Council under the Bush administration. Motegi and Green agreed to enhance the Japan-U.S. alliance. “As long as the two countries maintain basic values and policies, the relationship will remain firm,” Motegi told the press after the meeting. Motegi also met with Republican Senator Roger Wicker and members of President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team.
