During a press briefing on Feb. 27, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga commented on a tweet posted by the Commander, Naval Forces Japan (Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture) criticizing an article published by the Tokyo Shimbun whose headline had alleged that among the FA-18 fighter jets deployed at Atsugi airbase, 60% are unable to fly. Suga said that it is extremely unusual for CNFJ to issue a refutation and criticism of media coverage.
