Liberal Democratic Party Policy Research Chairman Toshimitsu Motegi announced a plan to consider introducing tax breaks to promote the use of self-driving vehicles utilizing artificial intelligence in a speech he delivered in Tokyo on Feb. 27. “We will consider giving safe vehicles a ‘safety car tax reduction’,” he said. On self-driving technology and safety guidelines, he also noted that “the government will establish these within the next two years or so.”
