Some 600 people staged a demonstration in front of the Prime Minister’s office in Tokyo on March 9 in protest of the government’s handling of the scandal involving the Moritomo Gakuen school corporation.

The evening protest was organized by a group that opposes the nation’s controversial security bills. The participants, including opposition lawmakers and members of non-governmental organizations, demanded that Yasunori Kagoike, the head of the school operator, testify before the Diet as an unsworn witness.

They held up signs calling for a thorough investigation into the scandal, chanting, “No coverup” and “No pocketing national assets.”
