The Public Morals and Safety Division of the Metropolitan Police Department arrested Michael Naomichi (34), a U.S. citizen, on the charge of obscene electromagnetic record distribution. The allegation is that the suspect, who is involved in the administration of a U.S. unexpurgated pornographic video website called “Calibian.com, allegedly compressed video data for distribution. It is unusual for the MPD to arrest an individual involved in the administration of an overseas obscene video website.

According to the MPD division, Digital Technology International, a company comprising multiple firms in California, runs Calibian.com. The suspect belongs to the group’s “Media Creation Technologies,” which produces web content.

In general, investigations of overseas websites are said to be difficult. However, while the MPD was investigating in January the production company “Pierrot” in Tokyo, which was suspected of having delivered videos to Calibian.com through a Taiwanese company, the MPD found that the suspect was involved in wrongdoing. Although the suspect lives in the U.S., the MPD, after obtaining information that he was visiting Okinawa, arrested him there on the charge of distributing videos of sexual acts through Caliban.com in mid-August last year.
