During a press briefing after the party convention on March 12, Democratic Party leader Renho announced she will run in the next Lower House election. It is still “a secret” as to which bloc she will run in, she said.

Renho won her first victory in the Tokyo bloc and became an Upper House member in 2004. She has won reelection twice since then. The party is considering two possibilities for Renho: to run in a single-seat constituency district in Tokyo or at the top of the list for Tokyo or another area under proportional representation.
