TBS and Sankei reported online that the U.S. Embassy is currently producing a video in support of Kumamoto’s efforts to rebuild the local communities devastated by the strong earthquakes a year ago, saying that Embassy mascot “Tom” joined the famous Kumamoto character “Kumamon” and some 350 local residents at Kumamoto Castle on Tuesday to perform the “Kumamon Dance.” The film will be posted on YouTube and other U.S. Embassy social media platforms in early April. U.S. Consulate Fukuoka Principal Officer Joy Sakurai reportedly said: “We want to convey the message that America will continue to support Kumamoto. We hope this video will help with reconstruction and tourism promotion.”
