The Financial Services Agency (FSA) has set up a consultation office for foreign financial operators looking to expand their business in Japan to respond to inquiries on legal interpretations on financial affairs and other matters. The agency aims to attract asset management firms and improve Japan’s financial competitiveness in the international market.
Many foreign financial institutions lack basic understanding of doing business in Japan, such as whether they need to acquire licenses. The Financial Market Entry Consultation Desk will respond to these inquiries and assist them with the necessary documents and procedures. It will also coordinate with the Tokyo metropolitan government to provide expatriates and their families with information on English-speaking hospitals and schools. (Abridged)
