Former Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi called for the central government and political parties to quickly realize that Japan’s complete exit from nuclear power generation, which he advocates, is a feasible goal, reiterating his criticism of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who is aiming to restart nuclear reactors. Koizumi made the remarks during a press conference held in Tokyo on April 14. He also announced that he has set up a new group promoting the elimination of nuclear power and the use of natural energy in a bid to spur cooperation among groups working to break away from nuclear energy.
