FUKUI (Jiji Press) — Kansai Electric Power Co. said Tuesday that it will restart the No. 4 reactor at its Takahama nuclear power plant in Fukui Prefecture on Wednesday.
The 870,000-kilowatt reactor will use mixed oxide, or MOX, fuel, a blend of plutonium extracted from spent nuclear fuel and uranium for so-called plu-thermal electricity generation.
The restart is scheduled for 5 p.m. Wednesday, Kansai Electric, based in Osaka, said.
The company brought the reactor back online in February last year, but its operations were suspended three days later due to a glitch.
