NHK reported at noon that in relation to South Korean President Moon’s assertion on Thursday that Korean victims of forced labor in Japan during WWII retain the right to claim compensation from companies, MOFA lodged a protest with the South Korean government through the Japanese Embassy in Seoul on Thursday given that “the issue of reparations regarding wartime forced labor was settled between the governments of Japan and South Korea” in 1965. The network said MOFA is planning to lodge a protest again today.
