Maehara: “We’ll repeal security legislation and enact new laws”

On a BS Fuji program aired on the evening of Sept. 6, Democratic Party leader Seiji Maehara spoke about the [2015] security legislation that permits the limited exercise of the right to collective self-defense. He said he aims to repeal the legislation and create new laws.

Maehara pointed out that the security legislation was enacted in response to the revision of the Guidelines for Japan-U.S. Defense Cooperation. “We will repeal the legislation and then enact new revised laws. We shouldn’t just repeal the legislation,” he said.
