Senior Chinese diplomat says next DPRK missile might fly over Tokyo

Kong Xuanyou, China’s assistant minister of foreign affairs and special representative of the Chinese government on the Korean Peninsula affairs, noted during a meeting with a delegation of Japanese lawmakers held in Beijing on Aug. 30 that the next ballistic missile that North Korea launches “might fly over Tokyo,” according to a source familiar with the matter. The North launched a ballistic missile that passed over Hokkaido on Aug. 29.

This was revealed by several lawmakers who attended the meeting. Kong, who stresses the need for dialogue with Pyongyang, cited this as a possible scenario that could occur if Japan and the U.S. continue to give more priority to pressure than dialogue.
