Business leaders of Japan and South Korea gathered in Seoul on Sept. 26 for the 49th Japan-South Korea business council. South Korean trade minister Paik Un-gyu said, “The economic cooperation between the two countries should be expanded to the areas of new industries and energy.”
The business council began in 1969 in Seoul and has been held even during times when Tokyo and Seoul were at odds with each other. The latest meeting is the first to be held since South Korean President Moon Jae-in took power. Paik underscored that the Moon administration is hoping to expand economic exchanges with Japan.
