At a meeting of Liberal Democratic Party executives on Oct. 31 Prime Minister Shinzo Abe (president of the LDP) was entrusted with the task of choosing chiefs of the party’s various headquarters under his direct supervision . Abe will appoint former economy minister Akira Amari to replace former chairman of the party’s General Council Hiroyuki Hosoda as chairman of the party’s Administrative Reform Promotion Headquarters.
Among the LDP’s executives, Secretary-General Toshihiro Nikai, General Council Chairman Wataru Takeshita, and Policy Research Council Chairman Fumio will retain their posts. LDP Vice President Masahiko Komura, who retired from the Lower House, will stay on. (Abridged)
