Mainichi Broadcasting System reported online that a man believed to be in his 60s was arrested by riot police after brandishing a knife in front of the U.S. Consulate in Osaka at around 1 p.m. on Sunday. The network said that although the knife he was holding was fake, the police found a real knife in his bag and arrested the man on charges of violating the Firearm and Sword Control Law. The network said the man shouted “Apprehend America” and “I wanted to make a scene” when he was being restrained by the police. No injuries were reported.
