Kyodo reported on Saturday that the South Korean government had asked the USG to change President Trump’s itinerary for his East Asia trip to stay in Seoul for three days like he will in Tokyo instead of two days as planned. Although the USG decided not to change the schedule, it chose not to arrange any events for the President’s third day in Tokyo out of consideration for Seoul’s request. The article said Seoul’s request was conveyed to the GOJ via the USG, adding that a plan for President Trump and PM Abe to visit the MSDF warship Izumo on Tuesday morning was called off for the sake of maintaining solid trilateral cooperation against North Korea.
