At its board meeting held on Nov. 7 in the National Diet building, the Japan-South Korea Parliamentarians’ League, a suprapartisan group chaired by former Finance Minister Fukushiro Nukaga, decided to hold a joint general assembly with the South Korea-Japan Parliamentarians’ League in Tokyo on Dec. 11. The assembly is expected to discuss economic cooperation and the handling of the North Korea issue and to adopt a joint statement.

The general assembly will feature six committee meetings. The security and diplomacy committee will consult on the handling of North Korea, and another committee will discuss cooperation to ensure the success of the 2018 PyeongChang and 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games.
