Special Advisor to the Prime Minister Kentaro Sonoura will travel to Israel, Palestine, Jordan, and the Philippines from Nov. 12 through 16. He will be updated on the progress of Japan’s assistance measures there and discuss plans for more assistance. In the Middle East, Sonoura will inspect the progress of the “Corridor for Peace and Prosperity,” a Japanese government’s initiative for helping Palestine. In the Philippines, he will inspect the activities of staff of the Japan Coast Guard sent to assist its counterpart in the Southeast Asian country.
The Japanese government will use inspection results to improve its future measures for helping the Middle East and the coast guard activities in Southeast Asia in light of China’s maritime activities in the South China Sea.
