Megumi Yokota’s parents hold press conference on 40th anniversary of abduction

All networks reported at noon that today marks the 40th anniversary of the day Megumi Yokota was abducted by North Korean agents from Niigata at the age of 13. The network quoted Megumi’s mother, Sakie Yokota, as saying at a press conference this morning: “I wonder why we haven’t been able to help her for such a long time even though she is confined in a country that isn’t so far away.” She also expressed hope to see her daughter one more time, even if it’s just for an hour, while she and her husband are still alive and well.
