Environment minister voices no objection to lack of Japanese access to U.S. military bases

Saturday morning’s Mainichi took up press remarks on Friday by Environment Minister Nakagawa, who commented on the fact that ministry officials have not been allowed to access U.S. military installations for environmental surveys since FY2014 by saying: “We are conducting surveys in the vicinity [of bases]. As we are able to survey broader areas, appropriate estimates can be made for the level of pollution at bases.”
