Rengo (Japan Trade Union Confederation) has decided to create a body called the “Rengo Forum,” (tentative name) for Diet members to discuss labor policy and other issues regardless of their political party affiliation.

This forum will consist of 18 House of Councillors members fully supported by labor unions affiliated with Rengo and 99 House of Representatives members from the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan (CDPJ) and other parties whom Rengo endorsed in the general election in October. The forum is meant to lobby the Diet members for the implementation of policies advocated by Rengo, and its inaugural general meeting may be convened in January at the earliest. (Abridged)
