Japanese and Russian business leaders will hold a joint conference in Moscow on Nov. 28. This conference is jointly organized by Keidanren [Japan Business Federation] and the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs to look at ways for Japanese and Russian companies to cooperate in developing the Russian manufacturing sector and other industries and in infrastructure construction.

The Japanese government is promoting joint economic activities with Russia in its effort to resolve the Northern Territories issue, so the Japanese business sector is supporting the improvement of bilateral diplomatic relations through investments.

This joint business conference has not been held since 2012 as a result of senior Russian government officials’ visits to the Northern Islands and other issues between the two countries.
