During a press conference on Nov. 28, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga touched on the revelation that a subsidiary of Japanese materials giant Toray Industries fabricated product test data. He said: “This is extremely regrettable. I want [Toray] to make maximum efforts to regain the trust of not only customers but of society overall.”

Citing the fact that Sadayuki Sakakibara, chairman of the Japan Business Federation (Keidanren), once served as Toray president, Suga pointed out, “It’s important for the business community to share the findings of the investigation and to endeavor [to prevent similar cases from recurring].”
