Saturday morning’s Nikkei reported that Japanese megabanks will stop providing loans to companies manufacturing cluster munitions, which have been internationally criticized as inhumane. The daily said following Mitsui-Sumitomo Bank’s announcement in September of a total ban on such loans, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group announced a similar ban on Dec. 1. According the paper, Mizuho Bank is also planning to ban loans to such manufacturers.
