Mizuho Bank will set up an office in Dallas, Texas, within fiscal 2017. The suburbs of Dallas are increasingly attracting Japanese companies, such as Toyota Motor, supported by low tax rates and underpriced real estates. The Japanese megabank will strengthen its local marketing system through the U.S. office.

Mizuho has begun preparations to establish the Dallas representative office. More than 70 North American companies moved their headquarters to the Dallas suburbs between 2010 and 2015. Toyota this year relocated and consolidated its North American headquarters’ functions. Honda Motor and Hitachi also have offices there. The suburbs’ easy access to the growing Latin American market also contributed to Mizuho’s decision to have an office there.

The establishment of the Dallas representative office is part of the Japanese bank’s efforts to sophisticate its branch network in the U.S. It will streamline its internal management operations while increasing the number of marketing hubs.
