According to the Military Base Affairs Division of the Okinawa prefectural government, the USS Bremerton, a nuclear-powered Los Angeles-class submarine (6,082 tons with a crew of 138), entered the White Beach U.S. Naval Facility in the town of Katsuren in Uruma City, Okinawa, at around 10:00 a.m. on Jan. 4. The submarine left the port at 3:40 p.m. No change in in radioactivity was detected as a result of the visit.
