Saturday morning’s Mainichi wrote that on Jan. 12 Prime Minister Abe will leave Japan on a trip to Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Serbia, and Romania. This will be the first time for any Japanese leader to visit these countries. Since Bulgaria holds the presidency of the EU Council for the first half of this year, Abe is hoping to confirm the stepping up of international pressure on North Korea in his meeting with the Bulgarian president.
